Have you ever thought about the first time you’ve heard the word BLOG? Let me share mine. I was watching a computer tv show then when I’ve encountered such word. I was ignorant at first hearing that word. It was the same motivation that helped me to know more on blogging. They featured blogger.com, a competitor of WordPress that also provides free blog hosting. I signed up as soon as I’ve learned about it; late October of 2004 if I’m not mistaken. Right after signing up, I have realized and understood that a blog is like a journal, a diary in its simplest words. Specific and other meanings are listed below:

A blog (short for web log) is a website where entries are written in chronological order and displayed in reverse chronological order. “Blog” can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog. [SOURCE]

A blog is often a mixture of what is happening in a person’s life and what is happening on the Web, a kind of hybrid diary/guide site, although there are as many unique types of blogs as there are people. People maintained blogs long before the term was coined, but the trend gained momentum with the introduction of automated published systems, most notably Blogger at blogger.com. Thousands of people use services such as Blogger to simplify and accelerate the publishing process. [SOURCE]

Blogs serve many purposes from online newsletters to personal journals to “ranting and raving.” They can be written by one person or a group of contributors. Entries contain commentary and links to other Web sites, and images as well as a search facility may be included. Blogs may also contain video.[SOURCE]
